Pete Read
Hike Leader
About Leader
Since retiring from a teaching career, Pete has kept active working on a number of projects involving birds. Pete has been birding at Point Pelee over 50 years ago and makes annual visits for the Spring Migration, the Christmas Bird Count, and has made many impromptu visits. Pete has led bird walks here at the Park since 2002 and enjoys seeing the enthusiasm of his hike participants upon seeing and hearing birds on the outings. Besides showing people birds, he also enjoys sharing his knowledge of bird behaviour. He is an active member of several Nature and Bird Clubs and has led field trips and given many talks about birds. Presently he is one of the Regional Coordinators for the Ontario Breeding Bird Atlas, coordinating volunteers in their efforts to locate the breeding birds in the region. Pete also leads trips for Quest Nature Tours, and has been blessed to visit many countries, enjoying learning about the wonders of nature in the world, but of course, mainly increasing his knowledge of birds.
