Description: Bird collisions with glass surfaces are a significant issue that affects populations worldwide. Recent studies estimate that the annual loss of bird life due to these collisions is at least 1.28 billion in the United States alone. This troubling phenomenon occurs because birds do not perceive glass as a barrier to avoid. The problem is worsened by urban development and the increasing use of glass in modern architecture.

This presentation aims to illuminate the science behind bird-glass collisions, examine the factors contributing to these incidents, and discuss the innovative solutions available to address this critical issue. By implementing bird-friendly practices, we can significantly reduce the number of avian fatalities and foster coexistence between urban environments and wildlife.
